Are you tired of topping the ball off the tee and losing distance on your shots? In this episode of our Golf Swing Tips series with Coach Mike Labella, he shares an easy drill to improve your consistency off the tee.

Set Up

When you top the ball, you're either coming down or going up too much, and the tee stays planted. This is where the trouble begins. To solve this problem, we've got an easy drill for you.

Take your setup and focus on hitting the middle or bottom portion of the tee. You can take a few swings without the ball to get a feel for it. The idea is to make contact with the middle or bottom portion of the tee, which will help you hit the sweet spot on the driver.

Swing Feel

The second tip is about getting the right side through the shot. You need to focus on getting your right side to finish all the way around so it's pointing left of your target line. If you're aiming right down the middle, you want your right side pointing down the left side. This helps you hit the ball with power and accuracy.

Re-Introduce the Golfball

After practicing this drill for about ten swings, add the ball to the equation. Remember to focus on hitting the middle or bottom portion of the tee, and getting your right side all the way through the ball.

With this drill, you'll be hitting your driver with more consistency and power, which can lead to longer and straighter drives. So the next time you're on the course with your friends, you'll be confident in your ability to hit better tee shots and improve your game.
