In this video from our Golf Swing Tips series, Coach Rob demonstrates how to effectively flight your wedge shots to gain better control around the greens. This technique is particularly useful for situations where you need to navigate tricky slopes on the green.

Set Up

First, take your normal stance, but move about an inch to a half step closer to the golf ball. This adjustment will force you to stand slightly taller behind the ball. Next, shift the ball position about an inch to two inches to the right in your stance. By doing so, you'll be able to strike the ball on the bottom half of the clubface, which is crucial for achieving a lower trajectory.

Swing

Now that you have adjusted your stance and ball position, it's time to execute the shot. With your new posture and setup, simply perform your regular wedge shot. The result should be a lower, more controlled shot that rolls out, catches the slope, and moves towards the hole.

In the video demonstration above, Coach Rob hit the target line and even made the shot in the hole – always a fun bonus! Remember, when you need to hit a shot lower, these simple golf swing tips can make a significant difference:

  1. Stand slightly closer to the ball
  2. Adopt a taller posture
  3. Move the ball a bit further back in your stance
  4. Swing your normal swing

By incorporating these adjustments into your golf swing, you'll gain better control over your low pitch shots and improve your overall short game. Be sure to join us for more valuable insights in our upcoming Wedge Wednesday episodes. Happy golfing!
